The worship of God in the Old Testament was accompanied with a variety of musical instruments. The people of God celebrated in dance and song the mighty acts of God (in creation and in redemption) to the accompaniment of percussion (tambourine & cymbals), wind (ram’s horn, trumpet & flute), and string (harp & lyre) instruments.
In I Chronicles 15:16, it was recorded that during a worship service where the ark of God was brought into a tent, “David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their fellow Levites as musicians to make a joyful sound with musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.”
Indeed, the role of the musicians is a significant one in the worship of God. So all who are gifted in playing any kind of musical instrument are urged to come forward and use your talents to glorify God and edify His people.
